    Job Description
    Must be a current student, or attending college in the fall

    HOURS:  Temporary position, full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; 37.5 hours/week (summer months only)

    Perform general engineering fieldwork; Perform traffic count; Assign a condition rating to roads within City; Input data into computer;  Assist with field surveys; some interaction with the public.

    Knowledges:  Some knowledge of technical/engineering principles and practices, field surveying and drafting techniques; Some knowledge of AutoCAD and related software applications; Some knowledge of surveying methods, techniques and equipment.   Ability to: Perform mathematical computations; Efficiently work with a computer; Make neat, accurate and legible drawings; Record, compile, tabulate, summarize and analyze data; Maintain effective working relationships with staff and general public; Safely lift 60 pounds from ground level to overhead level; Use survey and drafting instruments; Explain and dispense technical information tactfully and courteously to the general public; Follow technical oral and written instructions.

    Employment Standards:
    Must be currently enrolled in college in engineering studies or closely related field.  Must possess valid driver's license.  Must show proof of vehicle insurance.

    Knowledge and Ability:  Commensurate to work assignment.

    Education:  Specific academic course work related or preparatory to the work assignment.

    Requirements/Special Requirements:
    Requires full time enrollment when school is in session as determined by the school

    Driver License Requirement:  Must possess valid driver’s license or be able to provide suitable transportation as may be required of the assignment and as approved by the department head.
    Residency Requirement:  No residency requirement.
    Post Job Offer Medical Examination Requirement:  Must pass post-offer drug test. Depending on Assignment, may require a lifting evaluation or blood borne pathogen evaluation/training.
