2017 Scholarships Available for Kids to Attend Summer Youth Conservation Camps
Scholarships available for kids to attend summer youth conservation camps
The Douglas County Land Conservation Committee is taking applications for scholarships to help families send their middle and high school-aged students to two summer youth conservation camps in Wisconsin. The Sand Lake Conservation Camp for middle school students grades 6-8 will be held June 21 – 23rd and is located at the Camp Bird Youth Camp in Crivitz, Wisconsin. The WI Land+Water Camp for high school students grades 9-12 will be held June 19 – 23rd and is located at the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin. At camp, students will get to know counselors who work in conservation careers and meet other campers from around the state. Camp will include lake research, wildlife and forest biology, nature hikes and canoeing, hone problem-solving skills on the challenge course, fish, swim, and more. Students interested in natural resource management careers or who enjoy the outdoors are best suited for these camps. Registration costs for each camp varies, but will be covered by scholarships from Douglas County on a competitive basis. Scholarships are only available to Douglas County residents and applications must include a one paragraph description about why the applicant wants to attend camp. Scholarship applications are due May 5th.
