The Development Association of Douglas County is excited to announce a partnership with the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and UW-Extension that will offer Business First Steps workshops for starting a business in Douglas County. Two versions of the workshop are available: starting a food production business, and a general business workshop. Sessions will be held at the Superior Business Center, in the conference room starting in November with additional sessions in January, March, and May.
Food Product Business First Steps will be held on Monday, Nov. 12, at 8:30 a.m. until noon in the Superior Business Center (SBC). This workshop will include a tour of the incubator kitchen. Enrollment in this workshop is free for individuals considering starting their food production business in the SBC USDA licensed incubator kitchen. Taught by Arlene Coco Buscombe, an experienced professional chef and developer of commercial packaged food products, participants will also receive the Wisconsin Food Processing Guide produced by UW-Extension.
The Business First Steps workshop for all other business types with instruction by the Small Business Development Center at UW-Superior and UW-Extension will be Tuesday, November 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Superior Business Center. This session is free to attend and participants will receive a session workbook and guide to starting a small business by the SBA.
