    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DTA Will Hold a Public Meeting on Proposed Route Changes on 5/28/19 at the Duluth Transportation
    Center (DTC) in Downtown Duluth

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (April 26, 2019) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) will hold a public meeting on proposed service elimination to Route 20 (Downtown to United Healthcare and Airpark) and Route 22 (Lincoln Park to Lakeside) on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Duluth Transportation Center (DTC) which is located at 228 West Michigan Street in downtown Duluth. This proposed service elimination for these two routes would go into effect on Sunday, August 25, 2019 pending a decision by the DTA Board of Directors after a review of public comments.

The DTA Board of Directors intends to re-evaluate this service elimination due to grant funding expiring in June of 2019 that was received from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) in 2017 for five expansion routes.  Routes 20 and 22 have not met the criteria for ridership that was established by MnDOT and the DTA Board of Directors when they were introduced, and continuation of these routes would need to be funded by the DTA’s Capital Budget.

All public comments regarding this service elimination will be compiled and shared with the DTA Board of Directors for review at their meeting on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 before they make a final decision.

The DTA will take public comment in multiple formats including written comments, emails, phone calls or in person at the aforementioned public meeting.  You are welcomed to choose the method that works best for you.  If you would like to provide comment now, please send an email to planning@duluthtransit.com or call the DTA at 218-722-7283.  Comments may also be provided at the public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the DTC located at 228 West Michigan Street, Duluth, MN 55802.

If you would like more information on this press release or to schedule an interview with DTA General Manager, Phil Pumphrey, please contact DTA Director of Marketing, Heath Hickok, at 218-623-4314.

The DTA’s mission is to provide a public transit service that is safe, convenient, efficient and affordable.
