  • Duluth International Airport introduces The Fly Local Pledge

    February 27, 2019
At this year’s Duluth and St. Louis County Days at the State Capitol the Duluth International Airport proudly introduced a new initiative designed to maximize the impact buying local has on our community. The Fly Local Pledge is a way for local business leaders to lead their community as well, by declaring a commitment to flying from the Duluth International Airport whenever possible.

“We were so excited to introduce our new initiative at this year’s Duluth and St. Louis County Days,” said Natalie Peterson, Communications and Marketing Director for the Duluth International Airport. “The response we received from companies, organizations and individuals was very gratifying. To have people so willing to take the pledge means they recognize the positive impact of flying local.”

When local business owners and their employees make the commitment to Fly Local, they demonstrate demand, encouraging airlines to lower fares, as well as add more flights and destinations to the offerings at the Duluth International Airport.

“Over fifteen hundred dollars of economic activity is generated for each new passenger,” said Peterson. “For every one hundred passengers, one-and-a-third new jobs are created. From the response we received, it’s clear our community cares deeply about supporting local, and we’re excited to keep that momentum going.”

The Duluth International Airport invites everyone to learn more and take the Fly Local Pledge now at duluthairport.com/flylocal. Every business, company or organization that takes the pledge to Fly Local will receive one complimentary annual pass to the new Club DLH Business Suite.
