CBS 3 Announces New Anchor Assignment

DULUTH, SEPTEMBER 5, 2018—Kristen Vake will join Edward Moody as co-anchor of
the CBS 3 News at 6PM and 10PM beginning Monday, September 10th.

CBS 3 morning anchor Kristen Vake is taking on a new role at CBS 3, moving to evenings.
“Joining Edward, Dave, and Kelly each night is an exciting opportunity,” says a beaming
Kristen Vake. The CBS 3 newsroom agrees—“Kristen is a strong and committed journalist
who knows news and knows the community,” says Kevin Jacobsen, CBS 3 news director.
“Kristen has proven herself with her weekly reporting on the mining industry and her daily
connection with viewers. She will be a fantastic addition to CBS 3 in the evenings.”

As a proud Iron-Ranger, Kristen is already a familiar face in the mining community and has
provided significant exposure and insight to an intricate industry. She adds, “being a native
of the area, CBS 3 viewers include many of my family and friends—it’s exciting to be the one
    bringing important stories to them.”

Kristen Vake is making the move from co-anchor for CBS 3 Duluth This Morning and says
while she’s excited about the move, she’ll miss the morning team. “This move is bittersweet.
The last two years have been an adventure alongside my co-anchors and friends, Briggs
LeSavage and Meteorologist Austin Haskins.” Vake has been anchoring mornings for CBS
3 Duluth since its launch in August of 2016. “Though getting to sleep through the night won’t
be so bad either!” she adds.

Kristen is a Northland native, born and raised in Chisholm, MN. Vake received a Bachelors
degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin Superior and a Masters in
Journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago. In 2017, she was a first-place winner
for Best Feature Story in the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Awards.

Watch Kristen Vake and Edward Moody weeknights on CBS 3 News at 6PM and 10PM.
