Starting in the spring of 2018, St. Luke’s in Duluth will begin a major update to MEDITECH, their EHR (electronic health record) platform, with assistance from a dedicated support team from downtown Duluth healthcare IT company, Sisu.

“Due to the nature of our industry, it’s not common that we get to work with someone down the street.” “Our staff is looking forward to working professionally with folks who share our same view – both literally and organizationally,” explained Sisu interim CEO, Kevin Boerboom.

For the pair of companies that share Lake Superior as a backdrop, that organizational view is providing physicians, staff and patients with the most efficient and accurate healthcare experience possible.

Over the next year, Sisu will provide a team offering day-to-day support for St. Luke’s EHR, allowing St. Luke’s staff freedom to dedicate their time to activities required for the successful implementation of the state-of-the-art MEDITECH software. These services will be provided by dedicated and on-demand Sisu Application Support Analysts throughout the 13-month project. Sisu will also provide specialists for MEDITECH building activities, end-user trainings and project go-live in March 2019.

“I know we can trust Sisu to assist us with many of the challenges we’ll face throughout this major implementation” says Clark Averill, IT Director of St. Luke’s Hospitals and Clinics. “Having a local firm with talented healthcare IT support staff made Sisu an easy choice to partner with.”

Once the transition to MEDITECH’S 6.1 EHR platform is complete, St. Luke’s will have a state-of-the-art healthcare solution that will transform the way patient data is provided throughout the healthcare system, improving the continuity of care for patients - offering one patient, one chart.  MEDITECH 6.1 is an intuitive platform that is as easy to use as a smart phone, while giving providers universal access to their patient’s story.  One key highlight of the new platform is its specialty-specific content, recognizing that different types of doctors, for example cardiologists, obstetricians, and general practice doctors, need to interface with different information. Having specialty-specific content built into the workflow means caregivers can focus more of their attention on their patient, and less time trying to figure out how to record information in their device.

“We’ve seen this platform in action and we know the benefits it will bring St. Luke’s caregivers and their patients,” added Mike Kovala, Director of Business Development.  “Many of the Sisu family are patients as well, which makes helping St. Luke’s implement this state-of-the-art technology a proud moment for us.”
