The DTA’s 2018 Port Town Trolley Service Breaks Annual Ridership Record
DULUTH, MINNESOTA (September 12, 2018) – The Duluth Transit Authority’s (DTA)
summer Port Town Trolley service exceeded expectations with annual ridership of
26,675. This is a record number of riders for the service which had a previous high of
18,556 in 2017.
This growth in ridership is mainly attributed to the service now being free along with
operational changes such as the addition of a second trolley bus which increased trip
frequency to every 15 minutes. The DTA also increased marketing activities targeting visitors to the area including digital billboards and backlit signs.

* Please note that this 2018 ridership number does not include the Port Town Trolley’s Special Autumn Service that operates from September 4th through September 30th.
