Travel Superior, the newly-rebranded Visitors Bureau of the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, has just launched an extensive advertising campaign with advice on how to take better selfies: by shooting the photos while vacationing in Superior and Douglas County.

Across the Twin Cities, 14’ x 48’ billboards have been going up, showing a family of three in a “selfie” pose with a ship and lighthouse behind them. The headline reads “Take better vacation selfies” and is complemented by the TravelSuperior.org logo and a “2-1/4 hours north!” subhead.

Travel Superior is also running newspaper and online ads plus a social media campaign, all targeted at Twin Cities families looking to get away this summer.

“The secret to a good selfie isn’t holding your smart phone steady, it’s having the background filled with thousand-foot ships, waterfalls, hiking trails, trout streams and everything else we offer visitors in Superior and Douglas County,” said Taylor Pedersen, Travel Superior director. “Vacations are fun, so we’re having a little fun with our selfie theme. We want the community to be aware of this marketing campaign and encourage residents to also have fun with it as we go into the peak tourism season for our region."

The Travel Superior logo and ad campaign were created by Greenfield Communications, a Twin Ports advertising and public relations agency that’s a longtime Chamber member.
