The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents its annual gala concert Superior Voices on Tuesday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium.
“Superior Voices is an annual scholarship benefit concert to raise funds for UW-Superior Voice Scholarships,” said Dr. Vicki Fingalson, Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera Workshop at UW-Superior. “It is a celebration of all the great singing that is happening on campus. The concert will feature Opera Workshop, A Cappella and Chamber Choirs, Voice Faculty and even an appearance from the cast of this spring’s musical, ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.’”
The evening will include selections primarily from musical theater such as “Spamalot,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” and “Gigi,” along with light opera such as “Die Fledermaus,” “The Impresario,” and “Don Pasquale.”
“The overall mood for the evening will be celebratory, light-hearted, and comedic,” said Fingalson. “This is an opportunity for UW-Superior singers to perform in formal gowns and tuxedos – sort of a ‘singer’s prom’ with lots of singing.”
Tickets are $10. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is located in Old Main on the UW-Superior campus at 1710 Weeks Avenue.
