The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents its annual gala concert Superior Voices on Thursday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium.
“Superior Voices is a concert that celebrates all the vocal music within the music department at UW-Superior, and raises funds for an annual voice scholarship,” said Vicki Fingalson, Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera Workshop at UW-Superior. “This year’s concert is called ‘An Evening in Vienna’ and will highlight some of that city’s most notable composers and styles of music, including Viennese Waltzes, operetta, and Mozart.”
The evening will include staged scenes and excerpts from opera and operetta, as well as selected movements from Mozart’s “Requiem” and the Choral Finale from “The Magic Flute” will be performed by the UW-Superior Opera Workshop, A Cappella Choir and UW-Superior voice faculty Fingalson, Jeff Madison, and Michael Fuchs.
“The singers will perform in formal gowns and tuxedos,” said Fingalson. “It’s a wonderful and fun way to cap off a successful year of vocal music-making at UW-Superior.”
Suggested donation for this concert is $10. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is located in Old Main on the UW-Superior campus at 1710 Weeks Avenue. Event link: https://www.uwsuper.edu/calendar/superior-voices-scholarship-concert_calendar329168470
