UW-Superior Music Department to present 'Journey of the Human Spirit'
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will hold its Symphonic Band concert on Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m.in the Thorpe Langley Auditorium.
The concert, entitled “Journey of the Human Spirit,” will feature soloists Seth Harrist, winner of the 2018 UW-Superior Symphonic Band Concert Competition, on saxophone and UW-Superior graduate Byron Klimek on cello. The concert will also feature guest soloist Andrew Sprung on clarinet.
Sprung is adjunct instructor of clarinet at Spring Arbor University and Hillsdale College, and second clarinetist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra in Traverse City, Mich. An experienced orchestral musician, he has performed with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Grand Rapids Ballet, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, and others. Sprung’s performances have been broadcast on WRCJ Detroit; WBLU Grand Rapids; WKAR East Lansing, Mich.; WLEN Adrian, Mich.; and Interlochen Public Radio. Sprung has performed with internationally renowned artists in the classical, jazz, and popular music genres, including Ralph Votapek, Zach De Pue, Bob James, and Josh Groban.
