The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents its 20th annual “Season of Song” Winter Choral Concerts onSunday, December 3, at 4 p.m. and Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior.

The program will include both traditional carols and fun holiday tunes performed by the UW-Superior Chamber Strings, directed by Dr. Erin Aldridge, and the UW-Superior Choirs and Festival Orchestra directed by Dr. Katherine Chan, Visiting Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at UW-Superior. The concert will also include “O Holy Night,” performed by UW-Superior Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera Workshop Dr. Vicki Fingalson, along with works by Minnesota composers Abbie Betinis and Matthew Culloton.

“When I was first told about Season of Song and directing the UW-Superior choirs with the festival orchestra, I was very excited,” said Chan. “I love choral music, but I equally love the larger works and choral music with the orchestra. This is a very significant event for us, and I’m excited to share this program with our community – sharing the joy and warmth of the holiday season with everyone.”

Chan is known for her energy and enthusiasm both on and off the podium. At UW-Superior, she directs the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers and teaches conducting and ear-training classes.

“I’m really enjoying being part of a fabulous music department, a member of this university and having the opportunity to serve the community,” said Chan.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Cathedral of Christ the King is located at 1111 Belknap Street, at the corner of Belknap Street and Grand Avenue in Superior.
