UW-Superior selects three for Chancellor's Leadership Award
The University of Wisconsin-Superior has named Rachel Bursik, Victoria Greer, and D’Andre Robinson the recipients of the 2018 Chancellor’s Leadership Award. This award is given to members of the graduating class who are committed to personal growth and has made a positive contribution to their peers, campus and community.
A double major in Math Secondary Education and English Secondary Education, Bursik has been an active member of the campus community. The Stillwater, Minn., resident has been involved with Residence Life as a Resident Assistant, Tutor and Supplemental Instruction Leader for the Educational Success Center, a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the Yellowjacket Activities Crew, Residence Hall Association, and the Mascot Team, as well as a Board Member of Dean’s Student Advisory, and Future Teachers Association. Bursik is a Bachelor of Arts degree candidate with Magna Cum Laude honors. After graduation, Bursik will teach mathematics at Hidden Oaks Middle School in Prior Lake, Minn.
Greer has been successful in a wide variety of academic, professional and personal settings. Majoring in English Education and an Individually Designed Major in Spanish Secondary Education, the Kansas City, Mo., native has been involved as Resident Assistant, Assistant Hall Manager, and Hall Manager in Residence Life, inducted member of UW-Superior’s chapter of the English honor society, Sigma Tau Delta, and served as a Student Advisor in Residence Hall Association. Greer is a Bachelor of Arts degree candidate with Summa Cum Laude honors. Following graduation, Greer will teach Spanish to Luck (Wis.) School District students in grades 7-12 and exploratory classes to younger students.
Robinson is a double major in Communications – Digital Cinema Track, and Sociology. He has served President for the past two years of the Black Student Union and has acted as a leadership mentor through the Office of Multicultural Affairs. A McNair scholar, he is also a member of UW-Superior’s Sociology and Anthropology Club. Off campus, Robinson has been involved with the NAACP. He is a Bachelor of Science degree candidate with Magna Cum Laude honors. Robinson, a resident of Minneapolis, will continue his education with graduate studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
UW-Superior’s commencement will take place on Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Wessman Arena on the UW-Superior campus. Siinto S. Wessman Arena is located at 2701 Catlin Ave. in Superior. A live video feed will be available the day of the ceremony at uwsuper.edu/graduation/commencement.
