  • UW-Superior to host documentary screening, discussion with alumna

    The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host a documentary screening and discussion of “Under the Rainbow,” on Friday, September 27, in the William “Pope” Wright Jr. Student Center located in Old Main, Room 232. This film examines UW-Superior alumna Pamela Adie’s experiences of being a lesbian in Nigeria. The screening will take place at noon with a discussion and conversation about the film with Adie following at 3 p.m. These events are open to the community.
    Adie is the co-founder and chief servant/executive director of The Equality Hub. She is an LGBTQ+ rights advocate and defender with significant experience in communications, digital campaigning, and public speaking in Nigeria and globally. Adie’s stories have been featured in various LGBTQ+ anthology series and she has spoken at multiple public forums in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity. Adie’s work earned her an invitation to participate in the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa Program and a place on Nigeria’s 100 Most Inspiring Women list. She holds an MBA from Webster University, a master’s degree in human services management from the University of Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UW-Superior.
    This event is part of a yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and the upcoming 30th anniversary of UW-Superior’s Gender Equity Resource Center.
