There’s no shortage of adventure in Superior. From endless trails, parks, and forests, to open water for boating, swimming and fishing, fun attractions and great restaurants, it’s hard to even narrow it down.

    1. Wisconsin Point Lighthouse
This lighthouse is the quintessential North Shore spot, sitting along a ten-mile long sandbar between Wisconsin and Minnesota. The current tower was constructed in 1913, lighting the way for ships in the harbor.

It’s a bit off the beaten path – and you can’t go inside the lighthouse – but the views of Lake Superior from the rocky path are unbeatable. You might even get to see a ship up close.

    2. Chase’s Point
Situated within Superior Municipal Forest, Chase’s Point is a four-mile loop trail that offers stunning views of Spirit Mountain and Clough Island. Visit in the winter for skijoring or snowmobiling, or take your ATV or bike for a spin in the summer.

    3. Fairlawn Mansion
They just don’t make them like they used to. Superior’s Fairlawn Mansion is a bonafide castle, complete with 42 rooms. The building was first built in 1891 by Martin Pattison, a three-time mayor of the city.

The Queen Anne Victorian house features a four-story turret and expansive lawn and garden, all restored to its former glory. Visit for a daily tour year-round.

    4. Barker’s Island Marina
If you’ve got a boat, Barker’s Island Marina is a picturesque spot to dock it. As a plus, the marina offers amenities like WiFi, city water and private restaurants and showers.

If you don’t have a boat, the marina is still a beautiful place to visit. Walk along the shore and take a look at the variety of boats docked in the bay. Catch the twilight reflecting off the water. They’re views you’ll only get in Superior.
