The Douglas County Historical Society will host the regional meeting of the Wisconsin Council for Local History. This all-day convention includes a workshop on volunteer development and retention, an update from the Wisconsin Historical Society, roundtable discussions and an original theatrical production based on a 1913 ore dock strike. Morning refreshments and a luncheon of Finnish cuisine will be provided with registration. Luncheon speaker, Dr. Joel Sipress, Professor of History at UW-Superior will provide an overview of Superior's unique place in the history of the labor movement and the impact of Finnish culture in Superior. DCHS's newly opened labor exhibit will be on display throughout the day. Tours of the Richard I. Bong Heritage Center and the Davidson Windmill on Highway 13 will finish the day.
