Camp Bong is a sleepover experience at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in which youth and adults get to see behind the scenes, meet with veterans, and engage in a variety of learning experiences. Due to the popularity of the event, the camp will be hosted into two separate events. First on March 23 for youth in grades 1-3 and the second on April 13 for youth in grades 4-6. The night starts off with pizza with veterans, where campers sit down with local veterans to learn about their experiences. Campers will be divided into two platoons engaging in a footlocker presentation and conducting a scavenger hunt in which they will search for hidden markers throughout the Center. Campers will have their photo taken inside the cockpit of the P-38 Lighting followed by Aeronautics Training where campers will design, build, and test their own parachute. The following morning, campers will be treated to a breakfast and a behind the scenes tour of the collection storage area of the Center. All campers will be given the collectible Camp Bong t-shirt and their own customizable dog tag.
