How do we provide quality patient-centered care at the end of life?
In this session, we will discuss how older adults die and the status of end of life care in the United States. We will examine current models of care available for end of life and differentiate between hospice and palliative care. Pain and symptom management are more complex at the end of life. We will learn interventions to manage physical care.
Death is also a spiritual and psychosocial event. We will discuss spiritual pain at the end of life and how caregivers can help facilitate end of life goals.
