Start saving your glossy/shiny paper today! On Tuesday October 9th, between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. you can bring your shiny/glossy paper, plain white paper (‘copy’ paper), magazines/catalogs, and shiny advertisements from the newspaper or “junk mail advertisements to the parking lot behind Superior Senior High School (2600 Catlin Avenue) and donate it to their lime green collection bin.
SHS has a terrific and easy fund raising opportunity for the Senior All Night Graduation Party. They are collecting ‘shiny’ paper to bring to New Page Paper located in West Duluth, who pays them 10 cents per pound for the paper. Last year an amazing total of 37,500 pounds of paper were collected which amounted to $3,750.00 towards the Senior All Night Grad Party.
Start saving today! There are collections set up throughout the school year, at least twice per month to come over and drop off the paper that you have collected. The collection spot is at the back of the school near the teachers’ parking lot, just look for the lime green bin.
Just one of the great things about this fundraiser, it costs you nothing! Just a little tiny chunk of your time, however long it takes to stop by SHS and drop off your paper. How great is that? You get to recycle the paper, get it out of your way AND support a good cause all at once. Remember that this is an ongoing project and you do not need to have a senior in high school to participate so even if you can’t make the October 9th collection keep on saving that paper and watch for the next collection date or contact Vicki O’Brien via email at

See you there and don’t forget to tell your friends!
