Grand Opening New Wolf Exhibit Lake Superior Zoo

The zoo is acquiring a bachelor group of three grey wolves from the Science Center of Minnesota. The wolves were born as part of a research project for testing a reproductive enhancement technique for a Mexican wolf species recovery program.

The three grey wolves will soon be settling into their new home in a specially designed exhibit at the zoo, with a grand opening set for Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. The opening will include a talk on wolves and their habitat, special enrichments and a visit from Ely International Wolf Center staff. There will also be wolf related activities for children.

''This is an opportunity for us to educate people on an animal that is part of our culture and lives where we live,'' said the zoo's Director of Education and Animal Management, Leslie Larsen. ''We're excited and honored to be able to have these wolves on exhibit here.''
