Originally a lumber and cement supplier to the Duluth-Superior region, Cutler-Gilbert-Pearson Company was formed in 1880. Since then the company has gone through name changes and added salt and lime to its product line. During WWII, the site was temporarily converted to the Globe Shipbuilding Company. Today the Superior lime facility is called the Graymont Superior Plant.
