Lake Superior Day is a special day that encourages people to take an interest in protecting the lake as well as enjoing the many opportunities Laek Superior offers. Superior's Lake Superior Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, July 18 at Barkers Island Festival Park. Everyone in the community is invited and encouraged to attend. The free celebration will include a Barkers Island clean up from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 pm. At 1:00 pm there will be a ceremony, Native American drum circle, and essay contest awards. This is followed by an afternoon of fun featuring a free hot dog lunch, live music by NSNSKJ, Moonwalk for kids, educational displays, free kites and kite flying to the first 100 youth, free raffle for a compost bin and rain barrel, face painting, a free recycling bag for each family, and much more! Bring a lawn chair and comeenjoy an afternoon next to the greatest lake in the world!
