Amongst the white snow this spring is a sea of pink. The flamingos have landed in the lawn at WITC-Superior (600 North 21st Street). Why here!? It's definitely not because the weather is ''spring-tastic''. The flamingos are a promotional activity by Mentor Superior, which is trying to get 75 mentors in 75 days.
Rebecca Haavik, the program advocate from Mentor Superior will be on the WITC campus April 16 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the atrium. If you are interested in being a mentor or enrolling a child to get a mentor, she would love to connect with you!
Mentor Superior is a program dedicated to matching positive adult role models with children ages 5-17. Most youth enrolled are from single-parent families or those with special circumstances. Perhaps you know someone who would benefit from having a mentor. If so, stop down to learn more.
Maybe you are interested in becoming a mentor. Mentors must be over 18 years old with a reliable means of transportation. They also must be able to dedicate 10-12 hours per month for a minimum of one year to their mentee.
There are currently 18 children waiting. The need is great, especially for male mentors. Many of the young boys would love to learn to fish.
