Name: National Trails Day CelebrationDate: June 4, 2011Time: 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM CDTEvent Description:The Brule-St. Croix Chapter of the North Country Trail Association invites hikers and outdoor enthusiasts to celebrate 15 years of the North Country National Scenic Trail in northwest Wisconsin at National Trails Day, Saturday, June 4, at Gordon Dam County Park, seven miles west of Gordon, Wisconsin, on Douglas County Highway Y.
Since 1997, the Brule-St. Croix Chapter has celebrated National Trails Day, a national and international day to recognize the importance of trails and the outdoors in our lives. Our 15th annual event moves this year to Gordon Dam County Park on Highway Y, west of Gordon, Wisconsin.
Mark your calendar and plan to join us for these fun outdoor activities:
9-10 AM: Meet at the Park for "Coffee and Conversation". Get to know your fellow North Country Trail hikers and supporters in northwest Wisconsin!
10:30-Noon: Hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail with John Pearson, Brule-St. Croix Roving Trail Crew member from Solon Springs. Cross the dam and see the new trail entering the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway as John shares the challenges of trail construction in the remote terrain north of the St. Croix Flowage.
12:30 PM: Lunch at the Park, provided by Brule-St. Croix Chapter members. Donations appreciated. Enjoy one of the famous Brule-St. Croix NTD lunches and thank Lynne Nason for her many years organizing this premier annual chapter event!
