The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Superior is providing a public information meeting to discuss the design concepts for the reconstruction of the US 2/53 and 18th Avenue East Intersection and the US 53 and E Street Intersection.
The proposed improvement project at the intersection of USH 2/53 and 18th Avenue East would reconstruct the intersection to improve truck turning movements, traffic flow, and safety for motorists and pedestrians. Proposed improvements include enlarging the curb radii entering and exiting 18th Avenue East, lengthening the right turn lane from USH 2/53 to 18th Avenue East, adding a median on 18th Avenue East, and reconstructing a sidewalk to improve pedestrian access to the Osaugie Trail. Construction of this project is scheduled for 2012.
The proposed project at the intersection of USH 53 and E Street would reconstruct a quadrant of the intersection to improve truck turning movements, traffic flow, and safety for motorists and pedestrians. The proposed improvement enlarges the curb radius exiting the E Street intersection on to USH 53. Construction of this project is tentatively scheduled for late 2011 or 2012.
