North Central Windows Program presents: 4th Annual Exhibition: Renewal

Sue Meyers, Director of Superior's North Central Windows Program announced the opening of the 4th annual NCWP Art Show. The show features works of art in a variety of mediums by survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, which was completed at the weekly NCWP workshops, and in outreach programs at Safe Haven Shelter. Susan Meyers also facilitates a weekly group on the UMD campus each Monday at 5pm in the Multi Cultural Center, Kirby Student Center. This group is open to UMD faculty, staff, students and the Duluth Community.
This year's show will also feature the unique works of Jenn Salo, assistant director for NCWP. Jenn is a University of Wisconsin-Superior alum who graduated with her Master's degree in art therapy and works in the community and at CASDA.
The theme of this year's art is Renewal. Four projects were outlined – Inner Self Portraits, Unmasking Me/Unmasking the Future, My Traveling Story and A Journey Within. Workshops allowed participants the opportunity to look at their inward healing journeys and explore revitalization of themselves, their personal environments, safety and how they are effecting changes in their lives.
This year also marks the first time that the art exhibit will be presented at two local galleries and UMD during Domestic Violence Awareness month. The show runs at the Kruk Gallery located in the Holden Fine Arts Building on the UWS campus Monday October 1-15th, opening reception will be held on Friday October 6th from 6-8 p.m. Some of the pieces will be displayed in the Multi Cultural Center at the University of Minnesota Duluth between Oct. 16th and Oct 22nd.
