Ride for the Vets
Name: Ride for the VetsDate: June 4, 2011Time: 12:00 PM - 12:00 PM CDTEvent Description:Come join us on Saturday, June 4, 2011 for the 2nd Annual Ride for the Vets. This motorcycle ride is the biggest fundraising event for veterans in the Twin Ports. In addition to raising money for a variety of veterans’ causes, Ride for the Vets is meant to honor every veteran who has served our country.
The ride begins at noon (registration begins at 10:30 a.m.) at Roper’s Saloon 705 Tower Avenue in Superior, WI. The ride is approximately 100 miles long and winds through the beautiful back roads of northern Wisconsin with several stops along the way. We’ll finish the ride where we started, at Roper’s Saloon and will conclude with food, games, raffles, prizes and live music. Before and after the ride there will be representatives on hand from the Douglas County Veterans’ Service Office and the Twin Ports Veterans’ Clinic. They will have information on services that are available for all veterans.
The Cause
With the first ride in 2010 we were able to raise $6800 for Project New Hope, a counseling camp for returning veterans and their families. Sessions at Project New Hope are provided at no cost to returning veterans & their families. Now in 2011, our goal is to purchase a new van that will be used to transport veterans from Douglas, Ashland, Bayfield and St. Louis counties to the VA clinic/hospital at Fort Snelling in St. Paul MN. Currently about 200 trips are made each year helping approximately 1000 veterans to receive the medical attention they need.
So let’s make Saturday, June 4, 2011 a day to remember. Come join us and sever hundred other bikers to show our support for those that have given so much for our country.

This event is proudly brought to you by The PIGs.
What, you may ask, does PIG stand for? PIG=Public Involvement Group
What is a PIG? We are a group of people that love to ride and love to help others. We have nothing to do with being a club. We do not wear back patches or rockers. We have a front patch that says "PIG", a wild boar below that and our signature saying is "LGGD" (which stands for 'Let's Go Give/Get Donations'.
We are now over 60 members strong! And we're proud to be building a solid history as a community charity group. Everywhere we go people look and wonder who we are, and we just tell them "we're a group of PIGS".Location:705 Tower Ave., Superior, WI 54880
