    Event Description:

    The beautiful Superior Municipal Forest is the third largest municipal forest in the United States and holds some of the largest stands of northern Boreal forest in Wisconsin, as well as the protected shoreline of the dynamic St. Louis River freshwater estuary.

    Explore and enjoy the forest to find inspiration for your Postcard from Our Estuary on this hiking trip along trails on Dwights Point, a Wisconsin State Natural Area.

    This program will be outdoors and will involve hiking on uneven terrain, so participants should dress for the weather, wear shoes with ankle support, and bring a water bottle.

    Participants will meet at the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve on Barkers Island and carpool to the Superior Municipal Forest.

    Cost:  $5.00

    Meet and carpool to the Superior Municipal Forest: From the traffic light at the intersection of US Hwys 2 and 53 (Belknap Street and East Second Street in Superior), drive toward Lake Superior and cross the short causeway onto Barker's Island. Turn left into the parking lot.
