The University of Wisconsin-Extension office, along with Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and the Criminal Justice Team of Douglas County are sponsoring a Sex-Trafficking Seminar to be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at WITC Superior Conference Center, 600 North 21st Street, Superior, starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 11:30 AM. This free, interactive seminar was developed in hopes of educating and alleviating the issue of Sex Trafficking in Douglas County. We want participants to come away from this event with an understanding of the causes of sex trafficking, potential remedies, and a greater awareness of what agencies and organizations in Douglas County are doing to address sex trafficking. Our keynote speaker is Morgan Young, an Immigration & Poverty Attorney with the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Madison. Ms. Young provides legal technical assistance, training, program development and support for local Wisconsin domestic violence programming. Ms. Young also teaches the Law & Contemporary Problems-Domestic Violence course at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Before coming to the Coalition, Ms. Young was the staff attorney at the Center Against Sexual And Domestic Abuse in Superior.
