Superior Stampede ~ Semi-Pro Football Game

The Semi-pro Superior Stampede football team begin their 2008 season with a 5:30 p.m. kick-off at the University Wisconsin-Superior's Ole Haugsrud Field when they take on the East Metro Phoenix of St. Paul, Mn. in hard hitting NEFL action!

The Stampede will be led by Superior native in first year head coach Matt Krivinchuk, as well as by two-time All-American running back Kevin Guillory (UMD), 2-time All-American linebacker Nick Farrell (UMD), and former Minnetonka High School prep star in running back Jalon Hopkins.

Hopkins won a state title with Minnetonka in 2004 when his team defeated current Ohio State All-American linebacker James Laurinities from Wayzata. Hopins rushed for 290 yards in that game and scored two touchdowns. Coming out of high school, Hopkins was highly recruited by many Division I schools and ran a 4.38 forty yard dash, as recorded by numerous scouting bureau's.

Other notables include: RB Joseph Russell (UMD), DE Marlon Glaspie (University of Mary), FS Andel Brown (Prairie View A & M), SS Rob Smith (Itasca C.C.), and All-American linebacker Tim Manns (Moorhead State University).
