"The Strike," an original play based on the 1913 Allouez ore dock strike will be performed at the Douglas County Historical Society's new stage on September 13-15 at 7:30 p.m. and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16. A tragic accident at the Great Northern Ore Docks that killed two men and seriously injured five others, mostly Finns, led to the August 1st strike in 1913 for safer working conditions. Two weeks later the strike ended, with Great Northern banning the Finns from future employment because of their involvement with the I.W.W.
