The Victory Over Violence Exhibit is the second in a series of exhibits being brought to campus. A special kick-off with Carl Crawford will be held, Monday, Sept. 21, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Swenson Hall on the UW-Superior campus. The exhibit runs until Oct. 2.
The themes of the exhibit are designed to deepen critical thinking and stimulate dialogue about violence and peace. VOV is inspired by universal principles of nonviolence and respect for all living beings. Its goal is to contribute to a culture of peace through awareness, introspection, individual empowerment and a courageous and creative commitment to dialogue. It encourages respect, trust and friendship among young people, families, schools and communities across all boundaries such as race, religion and culture.
VOV is not a program where the participants absorb information but it also provides experiential learning opportunities:
•Self-reflection and self-change
•How to speak up and not be a silent bystander
•Engaging in real dialogue which involves truthful speech and active listening
The VOV movement begins with YOU. Starting on the personal level, our community will collectively build a culture of peace.
