Wild about Rice Festival

This celebration of a remarkable wild food is free and includes

·        Cooking demonstrations from the Duluth Grill

·        Fun puppet shows written and performed by staff at Fond du Lac Resource Management

·        Wild rice samples and tasting

·        Ricing demonstrations and know-how

·        Guest speakers throughout the day including research John Pastor on the challenges facing wild rice (3PM), researcher Amy Eliot on the ongoing restoration of wild rice in Superior’s Allouez Bay(10:30AM), and UMN student researchers including Lilah White on the importance of wild rice (4PM).

·        A birch bark canoe built on the Fond du Lac Reservation will visit the Estuarium for the day

·        Informational tables, photo booth, and an opportunity to meet the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve
