Black Owned Business Week in Superior February 8 - 14
Mayor Jim Paine held a press conference at 9:00 a.m. on February 9
th, in the Superior/Douglas County Government Center Atrium. Mayor Paine delivered a short address, recognized several black owned businesses, and
proclaimed the week of February 8
th as Black Owned Business Week in the City of Superior.
Black business owners account for about 10 percent of U.S. businesses and about 30 percent of all minority-owned businesses. It is important to acknowledge the importance of black owned businesses and the economic growth they create
within the City of Superior. Supporting these businesses will not only strengthen our local economy, but will also aid in closing the wealth gap among minority business owners, foster job creation, and celebrates black culture while serving the community.
