Brightwater Health Invites the Community to Support New Perinatal Mental Health Program on Give to the Max Day
Duluth, MN — November 11, 2025 — This Give to the Max Day, Brightwater Health (formerly Human Development Center, HDC) is calling on the community to make a difference in the lives of mothers, parents and families by supporting its new Perinatal Mental Health Program launching in 2026 —a dedicated effort to provide compassionate, accessible care for individuals before, during, and after pregnancy.
The perinatal period can be one of the most joyful—and most vulnerable—times in a person’s life. Up to 1 in 5 mothers experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, yet many go untreated due to stigma, lack of resources, or limited access to care. Brightwater Health’s new program will bridge that gap by offering specialized therapy, support, and education designed to promote mental wellness for both parents and infants.
“Becoming a parent, changes everything,” said Ben Hatfield, Brightwater Health Chief Executive Officer. “Our goal is to ensure no one faces those changes alone during such a critical time. With community support this Give to the Max Day, we can expand access to the care, build a meaningful program, and create connection every new parent deserves.”
Funds raised will directly support:
- Launch of dedicated perinatal therapy services
- Training for clinicians in perinatal mental health care
- Outreach and education initiatives to reduce stigma and encourage early help-seeking
- Creation of trauma-informed spaces for clients
- Building of therapy tools and physical resources needed for program
Give to the Max Day — Minnesota’s statewide day of giving — will take place on Thursday, November 20th, 2025 this year. Donors can visit GiveMN.org to find our Brightwater Health donation page and make a contribution or visit brightwaterhealth.org directly. Every donation, no matter the size, helps bring hope and healing to families in our community.
“Together, we can ensure that every parent has the support they need to thrive,” added Ben Hatfield, “Your generosity helps create brighter beginnings for generations to come.”
