CBS 3 News “Live at 5” will be anchored by Chisholm-native Kristen Vake and Inver Grove Heights-native Anthony Matt. Ely-native and Meteorologist Dave Anderson will deliver the weather. The trio currently anchors the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.

The 5 p.m. newscast is a response to viewer demand.

“We’ve hit the marks according to what we wanted to do,” said David Jensch, station vice president and station manager. “Adding a 5 p.m. is a competitive thing, but it also serves CBS viewers and builds an audience for 6 p.m.”

“With the support of Quincy Media, we’ve seen incredible success with the news on CBS 3 since our relaunch in2016,” said Kevin Jacobsen, CBS 3 news director. “It’s the fastest growing local news in the market. Adding a 5 p.m. newscast is a no brainer. Viewers are asking for it.”

In addition to featuring the day’s top stories and weather, the newscast will shine the spotlight on some of our region’s towns and stories that don’t always get the attention they deserve.

The launch of the newscast also means additional reporting power. CBS 3 is adding two staff members.

“In today’s day and age, local reporting is more important than ever,” Jacobsen said. CBS 3’s “Live at 5” newscast is our continued commitment to viewers who deserve fair and accurate reporting on what’s happening in their neighborhood.”

Timing of the launch of the new CBS 3 "Live at Five" coincides with the revamped CBS Evening News at 5:30 with Norah O’Donnell moving its studios to Washington D.C.

"CBS is a great partner with a new energy covering national and international news," said Jensch.
With the launch of the newscast, “Jeopardy!” will move back to its original time slot of 4:30 p.m. starting March 23.
