DTA To Provide Rides to Area Warming Shelters

Effective Wednesday, November 4th, The Duluth Transit Authority will again provide free rides to area warming shelters.  The rides will be available from one hour before opening (7:00 p.m.), to one hour after the shelters close (9:00 a.m.) for Duluth’s City Center West location at 5830 Grand Avenue.  On evenings where temperatures fall below 32 degrees, those in need of transportation to the West Duluth location can utilize Routes 1-2-3 and 5.

Superior’s Ruth House also has overnight shelter resources with free service via the first and last Route 16 trips from 7:00 p.m. prior to opening, to 9:00 a.m. the following morning.  Ruth House is located at 632 Grand Avenue in Superior, WI.  This service is already available as of Tuesday, October 27th.

The CHUM Drop-in center in Duluth remains open 24/7 throughout the cold season as well, rounding out the list of key shelter resources during the winter months.

“The DTA is proud to be part of the team making this important warming shelter effort possible once again,” said Phil Pumphrey, DTA General Manager.  For more information www.duluthtransit.com
