KBJR-TV promotes newsroom leader to Assistant News Director
KBJR Television Incorporated recently made the decision to promote one of their newsroom leaders, Jessie Slater to Assistant News Director. Briggs LeSavage, News Director of KBJR 6/CBS 3 along with VP/General Manager, Todd Wentworth acknowledged the importance of promoting from within and how it helps their organization better serve the communities throughout the Northland.
Slater graduated from Lyndon State College’s Electronic Journalism program in 2016. Since her arrival to the Northland, she has become an award-winning journalist who’s held a variety of newsroom titles, standing out as a true leader amongst her colleagues. Slater says, “I appreciate the opportunity to continue telling stories in a place as beautiful as the Northland. My passion for news doesn't stop and I hope to continue to do work that matters to our viewers."
LeSavage who was recently promoted from Assistant News Director to News Director says, “I'm honored to lead the KBJR 6/CBS 3 newsroom alongside Jessie. She's a very dedicated reporter and anchor who has embraced the Northland and truly made it her home. That's a big reason why she's so invested in her role as a journalist here: she knows the stories she's reporting on affect her and her neighbors across the Northland. Jessie is a trustworthy and valuable asset to our newsroom.”
KBJR Television Inc. VP/General Manager, Todd Wentworth believes the dynamics between LeSavage and Slater will provide our team of journalists with a level of expertise that will truly benefit our viewers for years to come. Wentworth said, “I endorse Briggs LeSavage’s choice to promote Jessie Slater to the role of Assistant News Director. Jessie is solid journalist, coupled with great work ethic and has strong understanding of how a newsroom should run. With Briggs and Jessie at the helm, working hand in hand with their accomplished news room staff, we are well-positioned to serve our viewers.”
While Jessie is taking on a new role with new responsibilities, she will still be anchoring the news weekdays at 5:00pm on KBJR 6.
