In early May, Mediqwest Insurance Services, Inc., decided that during this time of need they would try and make a difference. Mediqwest sent a letter to approximately 6,000 of their customers throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and upper Michigan and encouraged them to participate in their Food Shelf Donation project. They asked their customers to send a donation through Mediqwest to a food shelf of their choice. Mediqwest donated an additional $10,000 to those same food shelves.
The donations were collected through May 29th and Mediqwest received over $24,000 from their customers to be donated to 41 good shelves in their sales territory, with 13 locations in Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota, and upper Michigan. Due to the overwhelming response, Mediqwest decided to up their contribution to $15,000 and dispersed over $40,000 to these deserving organizations. Over $20,000 was distributed in the Twin Ports area including Second Harvest Food Bank, The Salvation Army, Rural Care & Share, CHUM, Faith United, St. Vincent de Paul, Zion Lutheran Church, and St. Francis Xavier.
