  • Plan ahead for Grandma’s Marathon traffic and detours

    June 15, 2021
This weekend’s Grandma’s Marathon event will cause delays for traffic headed to Duluth and the North Shore.

On Saturday, June 19, an Interstate 35 and Highway 61 detour is in place in Duluth to accommodate the marathon. The traditional detour route through downtown is under construction this year. Adjustments to the detour required to avoid the construction are going to result in longer delays than normal.

For those heading to Duluth on June 18, please anticipate longer than normal delays going through Duluth as well. Interstate 35 is open but is down to one lane northbound and one lane southbound.

Plan ahead and consider alternate routes or using navigation apps to avoid delays associated with Grandma’s Marathon weekend.
