    Sunset Snowshoes at Glensheen

Glensheen is excited to offer a free event series, Sunset Snowshoes, happening on Wednesday nights in February, from 4-7PM on the grounds of the historic Glensheen estate. Guests can explore the snowy estate with the backdrop of a Lake Superior sunset via snowshoe. Check out the wooded area next to Bent Brook or Tischer Creek and explore the Lake Superior shoreline via old-school wood snowshoes.

As the main visionary for the North Shore Scenic Drive, Chester Congdon was big on the preservation of the North Shore’s natural beauty. He embraced Northern Minnesota’s landscape by incorporating his own personal hiking trails on Glensheen’s estate, many of which can still be enjoyed today.

Glensheen will have free snowshoes for guests to use during this time. Since snowshoes are limited, please bring your own snowshoes if you have a pair. Snowshoes are not required, as a good pair of boots can work too. Guests can still hike the estate with boots if there is not enough snow.

Sunset Snowshoes is one of the many free Wednesday night events that we host at Glensheen for community members in the surrounding area. We look forward to opening up the grounds for all to enjoy on Wednesday evenings for Sunset Snowshoes, now through February 22.  Wednesdays in Feb. From 4PM-7PM.

Glensheen Mansion, perched on the shore of Lake Superior, is the most visited historic home in Minnesota and Duluth’s #1 Paid Attraction on TripAdvisor. The 12-acre estate features gardens, bridges, and the famous 39-room mansion built with remarkable 20th century craftsmanship. It serves to tell the story of the Congdon family and the Duluth region.

Glensheen is a proud property of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
