UW-Superior Foundation’s Superior Day of Giving is May 4
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation will host its seventh annual Superior Day of Giving on Tuesday, May 4. The 24-hour online event gives alumni, community partners and the community the opportunity to support Yellowjacket students.
While the Superior Fund remains the primary focus for the Superior Day of Giving, donors may also choose to direct their gifts to the Superior Fund; UW-Superior Athletics; Campus Recreation; the Music Department; the Human Behavior, Justice and Diversity Department; the Gender Equity Resource Center; or the Superior Floating Classroom.
With the event falling on May 4, which each year prompts a flurry of “Star Wars”-themed messages on social media around the movie quote, “May the force (4th) be with you,” the UW-Superior Foundation decided to get on board with the lighthearted “Star Wars” theme this year.
“With so many changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UW-Superior students need the support of our community now more than ever,” said Jeanne Thompson, vice chancellor for University Advancement. “Gifts made to the Foundation’s Superior Fund benefit our students, faculty and staff, facilities, and more, and maintain excellence at UW-Superior.”
Last year, amidst a global pandemic, over $90,000 was donated on the Superior Day of Giving. This year, to mark the day of May 4, the UW-Superior Foundation hopes the spirit of giving is strong.
“Every year, we are overwhelmed with gratitude over our community’s generosity,” said Thompson. “This generosity has enabled our Foundation to provide incredible opportunities to Yellowjacket students.”
Most gifts received on Superior Day of Giving are made online but can also be made by mail. Every gift of any amount made to the Superior Fund on May 4 will count toward this year’s goal.
