UW-Superior secures $400,000 for Northern Wisconsin Outreach
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation has received a $400,000 contribution from an anonymous alumnus. These funds will support the Northern Wisconsin Outreach Campaign to expanding partnerships in schools, businesses and communities in several counties in northern Wisconsin.
UW-Superior’s Link Center, which serves as a central point of access for community partnerships between the university and region, will lead this initiative. Funds will primarily be used to support expansion of three Link Center initiatives: Yellowjacket for a Day, Workforce Partnerships and On the Road listening sessions.
Yellowjacket for a Day brings high school students to UW-Superior for a customized engaging and enriching educational experience.
The Northern Wisconsin Outreach Campaign will build upon already existing Workforce Partnerships that UW-Superior and the Link Center has collaborated on to promote academic programs across the Northland.
On the Road listening sessions will bring UW-Superior administrators to communities for information sharing round-table events. These events will close the student-business-university loop creating time for communities to share their values with UW-Superior and learn more about ways the university can serve northern Wisconsin.
This five-year commitment draws attention to the diverse needs and opportunities of northern Wisconsin and propels the work of UW-Superior Foundation and the Link Center efforts to partner with many local communities to provide opportunities for their high school graduates and help meet workforce needs.
