  • UW-Superior Small Business Development Center honored as Center of the Year

    The University of Wisconsin-Superior Small Business Development Center and director Andy Donahue have earned statewide recognition for 100 percent client satisfaction and meeting goals for the past three years.
    “It is an honor to be recognized amongst our peers and to receive the SBDC Excellence and Innovation Center Award,” said Donahue. “Supporting and celebrating our regional entrepreneurs is truly rewarding and we continue to see the economic impact that they bring to their communities.”
    Wisconsin’s 2020 Small Business Development Center of Excellence and Innovation Award will go to the UW-Superior SBDC. In 2018, the center’s consulting assisted 81 clients, leading to 10 new businesses, 64 new jobs and $4.19 million in capital investment. SBDC help businesses start, manage and grow through no-cost, confidential consulting and business education.
    This award will be presented by the Wisconsin district of the U.S. Small Business Administration and officially celebrated during National Small Business Week at the annual SCORE/SBA Small Business Awards Breakfast taking place May 2020.
    In 2018, the 13 Wisconsin SBDC centers provided confidential, no-cost consulting to 2,944 clients, leading to 256 new businesses, 906 new and retained jobs, and more than $101 million in capital investment.
