UW-Superior to hold commencement May 18
SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior will conduct its commencement on Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Wessman Arena.
Chancellor Renée Wachter will preside over the ceremony and present diplomas to students who have earned associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Delivering the keynote address will be Diana Chi, a 1974 graduate who held a variety of positions within the media, which includes time at KBJR-TV in Duluth. Chi made her mark at KTLA-TV from August of 1986 until December 2019. Through those 33 years, she was honored with three Emmys, five Golden Mikes and three Mark Twain Associated Press awards for Best Writing.
The student speaker will be Hewan Haileselassie, an international student from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing.
The Chancellor’s Leadership Award will be presented to Hayk Arzumanyan, Evaline Britton, Haley Stalls and Kaitlyn Stender. This award is given to members of the graduating class who are committed to personal growth and who have made a positive contribution to their peers, campus and community.
A live video feed will be available the day of the ceremony at //uwsuper.edu/graduation. Siinto S. Wessman Arena is located at 2701 Catlin Ave. in Superior.
