Join the St. Louis River Alliance and Allouez Bay project partners on Tuesday, October 7, for a full moon gathering on Wisconsin Point. The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with a welcome in Lot 1. A self-guided walk along Bear Creek Trail (Makwa Ziibiins Miikana) will begin shortly after 4:30. Explore recent upgrades, including a pavilion, interpretive signage, and native plantings. At 5:15 p.m., gather for hot tea before the program begins at 5:30 p.m. Together, we’ll hear from partners leading the Allouez Bay Marsh Bird Habitat Project, including the St. Louis River Alliance, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Audubon Great Lakes, and the Lake Superior Headwaters Sustainability Partnership. They’ll introduce the project’s goals and share how they hope to include your voices in restoration design features. Project leaders will be available for answering your questions, and hearing about your hopes and dreams for Allouez Bay. As the moon rises, we’ll gather by the lake from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a brief history of Wisconsin Point and stories from Ojibwe elders of this sacred place. Come to listen, learn, and share under the full moon. Stay as long as you’d like. Bring your own chair, snacks, and water. A Few Things to Note: - Parking: Please carpool if you are able, as parking space is limited. - Weather: The event will take place rain or shine, but safety comes first. We’ll cancel if wind or weather conditions are unsafe. - What to Bring: Appropriate clothing and layers for weather, water bottle, your own chair and snacks.
