Driver License/Endorsement Requirement: Must acquire, possess and maintain valid Class B Commercial Driver's License within 12 months of hire date. The City can assist with this process - including the new Entry Level Driver Training requirements.Starting Wage Range: $23.90 base wage for Light Equipment Operator. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm and as needed otherwise (40 hours/week).

Performs a variety of tasks requiring manual labor as well as skilled work of a varied nature in the operation of motorized equipment categorized as light equipment; does related work as required.
General Responsibilities
1. Perform all work in a safe manner utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
2. Operate trailer mounted pumps and a trailer mounted pressure washer.
3. Maintain and clean facilities, equipment, structures, and pipes.
4. Assist in the repair, rehabilitation, inspection, and replacement of structures, pipes, pumps and related equipment.
5. Pick up refuse cans at facilities.
6. Perform painting as needed to include brush, roller, and non-commercial tools.
7. Assist Maintenance Technician and Engineering staff as required.
8. Fuel, clean, grease, maintain and inspect equipment.
9. Perform confined space entry with training and utilizing all related safety equipment.
10. Fill in for Plant Operator, which works rotating schedules/shifts as directed or assigned,
11. Operate a jackhammer, chain saw, and other small tools.
12. Perform tasks related to traffic control.
13. Complete daily logs, work orders, inspection reports, and other records or reports as required, providing complete documentation of necessary information.
14. Refer problems and citizen or customer complaints to Supervisor.
15. Respond to emergency and overtime call outs as required performing necessary activities and referring questions or problems to the Working Foreman or Supervisor.
16. Maintain facilities by plowing, snow blowing, and shoveling.
17. Operate truck under 26,000 pound limit.
18. Operate a front-end loader and backhoe with proper training.
19. Operate various equipment as required.
20. Assist in the operation of jetting and vactoring equipment.
21. Assist with pouring concrete and blacktop patching.
22. Observe safety precautions so as to prevent accidents to crew and equipment.
23. Use Maximo work order system.
24. Perform related duties as assigned.
- Maintenance and construction procedures, materials, and equipment.
- Occupational hazards and the safety precautions for performing light equipment operator tasks.
- Operate multi-purpose motorized equipment in a thorough, effective and efficient manner.
- Use and care for tools and equipment used in general maintenance, construction and repair work.
- Make minor repairs and adjustments of equipment.
- Keep records for billing purposes.
- Understand and follow oral and written instruction.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the public.
- Work under adverse weather conditions.
- Safely lift 60 pounds from ground level to overhead level.
- Perform the physical requirements of the position.
Education & Experience Requirements
Any combination of experience and training which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of qualifying for this position would be through:- Equivalent to high school graduation or possession of GED certification six months experience performing laboring tasks in the operation of road equipment and in road construction or maintenance.

ESD Wastewater Treatment employees must obtain a valid class B Commercial Driver's License within (12) months of hire.
No residency requirement.
Must pass a background investigation as required by U.S. Department of Transportation standards.
Must pass medical examination as required for the occupation unit including a lifting capacity test.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to drug/alcohol testing as prescribed by U.S. Department of Transportation standards.
