DTA Team Members Steer Past Competitors in 2021 Minnesota State Bus Roadeo
Duluth, MN. Members of the Duluth Transit Authority team took top honors at the 2021 Minnesota State Bus Roadeo in St. Cloud on Saturday, July 10th. The event took place on the St. Cloud State University campus, and featured 11 Large Bus competitors, and 15 in the Small Bus division. Duluth Bus Operators Paul Mattson and Rick Roser took home first and third place respectively in the Large Bus division.
This isn’t the first time the two have found success in the event, with each taking top three honors in previous years, and Mattson winning first place in the 2018 Duluth hosted event. The Roadeo, presented by the Minnesota Public Transit Association (MPTA) each year, features continuous improvement training sessions, networking, and other exciting elements in addition to the driving competition. The driving event tests the skills of bus operators through exercises including obstacle avoidance, turning skills, parking precision, closing distance and similar skills.
DTA General Manager Rod Fournier said, “The DTA is proud of the skills and professionalism of our Bus Operators. Seeing Paul and Rick come back with these results is no surprise, and really speaks to their talent and dedication that they both bring to work every day.”
The DTA mission is to provide a public transit service this is safe, convenient, efficient and affordable. For more information click here.
