  • Chamber Annual Meeting & Business Awards

    Purpose: To recognize businesses or organizations who maintain the highest standard of excellence throughout the Superior, Douglas County, and Twin Ports communities.

    General Criteria: Any community member may nominate a business for recognition (including their own if a Chamber member), and only Chamber member businesses are eligible for recognition.  In general, nominees should be those whose business practices and professional conduct contributes to a sense of cooperation within the entire business community, and which helps promote the Superior – Douglas County area as a good place to live as well as do business.  Note: “New Business of the Year Award” may go to a non-chamber member business.

    New Business of the Year Award

    The Superior-Douglas County community has seen a significant amount of new economic development!  All businesses that opened during the calendar year prior to the awards ceremony event held in February automatically qualify for this award and will be contacted to request submission of their own accomplishments.  Judging for this award will be based on potential community impact, use of innovation and technology, and overall community awareness, in addition to their submission.
     

    Outstanding Young Business Award


    This award will go to a business that has been in operation for more than five years but less than twenty years (regardless of size or industry).  The nomination should include a brief history of the business itself, and its contribution to the community.  Specific topics that will be evaluated, and should be covered in the nomination form, for the selection of this award include:

    • Organizational performance and integrity
    • Treatment of employees
    • Community impact
    • Overall safety
    • Quality of leadership

    Community Corner Stone Award


    This award will go to a business that has been in operation for more than twenty years (regardless of size or industry).  The nomination should include a brief history of the business itself, its impact on the community in past generations as well as how it will positively impact the generations to come.  This is the business whose employees are proud to say who they work for and strive daily to only improve the incredible foundation this company stands on.  Specific topics that will be evaluated, and should be covered in the application, for the selection of this award include:

    • Long term business success
    • Strong community involvement
    • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing business world
    • Innovative business strategies
    • Recognized business leadership as a role model organization
